Alexis Bledel

Alexis Bledel is an American model and actress who has starred in the hit television series Gilmore Girls (2000-2007). She has also appeared in movies such as Sin City (2005), Tuck Everlasting (2002), and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005 & 2008). Alexis was born in Houston, Texas and was raised in a Spanish-speaking household. Her parents grew up in Latin America before moving to the US. She considers herself a Latina. Growing up, Alexis was shy, and to make her come out of her shell her parents urged her to try out at the local theater.

After being scouted by a modeling agent she did some modeling (while juggling her high school studies) in New York, Milan, and Tokyo. Soon after finishing high school, she signed up at New York University as a film major. While studying there, an agent she met at her modeling agency was able to fly her to LA where she got her breakout role as Rory in Gilmore Girls.

She appears to be Catholic. Alexis was exposed to a melting pot of cultures and religion. She has mentioned that while growing up in Jewish neighborhood in Houston, she has attended a Lutheran, a Baptist and a Catholic school. Sources are scarce, but based on one interview shared by a fan it states that “Alexis is a Catholic Girl raised in a sheltered background”. Highly possible since both her parents have Latin American backgrounds, and 40 percent of the world’s Catholics live in Latin America.

She is a liberal Democrat. In 2012, Alexis created a tweeter account with the sole intention of helping Barack Obama gain votes for the Presidential Election. She has notably championed causes such as the DREAM act, same-sex marriage, bringing troops back home, various women’s causes, and defending Planned Parenthood. This makes her a strong liberal and Democrat.

Clearly an intelligent and artistic woman, it is no surprise that Alexis likes to write, read books, and go to the movies on her free time. She also likes photography, and spending time with her family.

Currently Alexis is married to her Mad Men co-star, Vincent Kartheiser. Together they have a child. They got married back in 2014. Alexis was also in a long-term relationship with Milo Ventimiglia, her co-star in Gilmore Girls. She has also dated John Paul, a British model.

Interesting Facts

Her big break in Gilmore Girls as Rory earned her a lot of fans and accolades, but another interesting thing about it is her audition for that role was her very first acting audition ever. Another surprising aspect to Alexis is she plays soccer for a club called The Hustlers.
