Amy Adams is an American actress and singer. Known for her recent role as Lois Lane in Man of Steel (2013), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) as well as the upcoming Justice League (2017). She’s been nominated for an Oscar five times, the first four for supporting roles and finally one for a leading role in American Hustle (2013). In 1995 she started working as a dancer until she was spotted by a theater director at the same year. As a singer, she’s participated in three soundtrack discs, two from Walt Disney Records, namely Enchanted (2007) and The Muppets (2011).
Adams and her six siblings were raised as Mormons until her parents’ divorce in 1985, when she was eleven years old. Some of her relatives have stayed in the church but it seems the actress is an ex-Mormon since the divorce. But she does still carry some of what was taught with her, having said “I can’t speak for everybody, but I know it instilled in me a value system I still hold true. The basic ‘Do unto others …’—that was what was hammered into me. And love.”
Meryl Streep taught Adams how to knit on the set of *Doubt* (2008). The actress also very much enjoys singing on her free time as much as professionally.
Amy seems to be mostly non-political. But she has called 2012 Clint Eastwood’s Obama speech “interesting”, although what she truly meant with her comment is anyone’s guess. She’s also taken part in a 2008 video with other celebrities asking for people to vote, but the video was non-partisan.
The actress has dated actor Darren Le Gallo since 2001, with whom she had a daughter in May 5th 2010, Aviana Olea Le Gallo. Interestingly enough, they only got married in May 2015, almost a 15 years after their relationship started.
Adams was a Hooters’ waitress for three weeks right after turning 18. “I did learn, quickly, that short shorts and beer don’t mix!”
