Azealia Banks is a rapper, singer-songwriter and actress from the United States. She grew up in Harlem, New York where she got her start on Myspace in 2008 by posting her songs on the social media site. At just 17 years old, she was signed with her first label, XL Recordings. Ms. Banks was always highly interested in music from a young age, at the age of 10 she was already performing in off-Broadway plays at the Tada! Youth Theater in Manhattan. She is known for being outspoken, no matter how taboo or in bad taste her views are.

Azealia’s political views are a little bit difficult to pin down. In 2012 she took to Twitter to express her lack of support for Republican candidate Mitt Romney, but in 2016 she endorsed Donald Trump. Not because she necessarily agreed with his politics, but more because she felt that in a world where all politicians were evil, the politician to choose was the most transparent one. However, her lack of open support for Democratic candidates would suggest she favors Republicans or non-establishment candidates. At the same time, Azealia’s positions on issues like reparations for African Americans and women’s rights are radically progressive. Her political views may have a hint of anarchist thought to them.

After making remarks that pointed to anti-Christian inclinations despite attending a Catholic school as a child, Azealia admitted in a controversial Instagram video that she was a practitioner of Brujeria and had been since about 2013. In the same video, she shows the camera a closet in her apartment in which she alleges that she sacrifices chickens.

It is worth noting that Azealia seems to exclusively date white men. She was once asked on Instagram why she dates “Old white dudes with money.” Her reply?

“Because black men take black women for granted and I’m too busy with music to be fighting for my rights at home. I already have to fight for respect with the black men in hip-hop so When I get home I like things to be nice and easy. Make sense?”

She is also bisexual. Currently it is unclear who she may be dating. The last known partner of hers was actor Jesse Bradford back in 2015, there is no mention of a breakup from the two but also no mention of them still being together.

She has an alter ego named “Yung Rapunxel”. Before Azealia became a rapper and singer, she had an acting career. In addition, she performed in off-Broadway musicals as a child. Azealia also identifies as bisexual.
