Channing Tatum is an American actor and producer. Channing initially appeared on everyone’s screen when he got a part in Coach Carter (2005), but his true breakthrough came when he got a lead role in Step Up (2006). He recently starred in both Magic Mike hits (2012 and 2015), but more than that, he also produced them. Some of the other roles he’s acted in are, Dear John (2010), The Vow (2012) and Foxcatcher (2014).
He does not comment on his religious views very often, but it is believed that Channing was raised as Catholic. When he was younger he attended Tampa Catholic High School for a while. It appears that he might have moved away from the Catholic faith or just keeps his views private.
One thing is for sure, he is not Republican. “I like horses and I like Obama” was part of a response Channing gave to his home state’s Republicans, who seem to dislike him because of his differing view. He has been outspoken in support of Democrats and is a big supporter of the LGBT community.
He loves running and working out, but will choose music and dancing over it any day.
Channing married Jenna Dewan, a professional dancer and actress, in 2009. The couple welcomed a daughter, Everly, in May 2013.
In April 2018, Channing and Jenna announced that they are separating under amenable circumstances.
In a statement the couple said, “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly. We won’t be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family’s privacy.” (3)
Channing was born in Cullman, Alabama. He grew up in a rural setting and he confessed that he struggled with ADD as a boy. As with many others, this lead to him underachieving in school. He was athletic as a child and participated in many sports such as football, track, baseball, and martial arts.
The storyline for Magic Mike was inspired by Channing’s own journey. After dropping out of high school he worked as a stripper before getting into acting.
