Danny McBride or Daniel McBride is an American actor and writer from Statesboro, Georgia. He first got his popularity for the role he played in the 2008 comedy film, Pineapple Express. Later his popularity grew through his crowning piece, Eastbound & Down. He actually wrote and produced Eastbound & Down and played as America’s favorite underachiever, Kenny Powers. He claims that his interest in writing screenplays stemmed from watching his mother performing sermons in church using puppets. He spent most of his childhood in Virginia where he graduated from Courtland High School. He later went on to attend the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem.
With all the despicably uncultured roles he has played in all his films, it comes as a bit of a surprise that Danny McBride is actually Jewish. To be fair, the actor is not a fully-fledged Jew although he proudly claims to have gotten all his strengths from his mother’s Jewish lineage. This is despite the fact that he is only one eighth Jewish.
Danny McBride is a huge fan of the MLB team The Phillies. This comes as no surprise given that this is what his character, Kenny Powers enjoys. His character on Eastbound & Down was based on a washed-out aspiring baseball player living a life lacking ambition. He also enjoys bowling almost as much as baseball.
Danny actually leans more towards being a Democrat. Many people believe that Kenny Powers would be the type of person to support Donald Trump but Danny McBride begs to differ. In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, McBride stated that although Kenny looked exactly like the typical Trump supporter, he isn’t a fan of Republicans.
Danny McBride is married to Gia Ruiz, whom he met in 2002 at a Super Bowl Party. Together they have a son named Declan.
Danny McBride is an avid fan of British comedy, despite all the blatantly American humor he incorporates into all his shows.
