D’Arcy Carden – The Story Behind Her First Name

The reason why D’arcy has an apostrophe in her name is a strange tale. When she was a young teenager D’arcy idolized the bass player of Smashing Pumpkins, a woman named D”arcy Wretzky. At the time the actress spelled her name Darcy without the apostrophe, but then began to add the ‘ to the spelling.

“My parents were kind of like, ‘What’s up? Why are we doing this? This is not your name.’ But then it just sort of stuck and after a couple of years I never went back. And my mom still makes fun of me to this day and will often sign letters ‘M’om’ which is just so funny.”(1)
