D’Arcy Carden is an American actress and comedian. She played the role of Janet on NBC’s The Good Place for five seasons and has had guest roles on Veep, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Barry.
Born on January 4, 1980 in Danville, California, her middle name is Beth. Her family surname is Erokan, and she took her husband’s surname when she got married. Her zodiac sign is Capricorn.
D’Arcy’s mother is Jewish heritage while her father is Turkish. While having a Jewish family background doesn’t mean that one follow Judaism, we felt the need to mention D’Arcy’s parentage as there is nothing in the public domain that shares what her religious beliefs are.
D’Arcy is married to Jason Carden, a television producer. The couple wed in 2010.
She has a brother named Will and two sisters, Laney and Miranda.
The reason why D’arcy has an apostrophe in her name is a strange tale. When she was a young teenager D’arcy idolized the bass player of Smashing Pumpkins, a woman named D”arcy Wretzky. At the time the actress spelled her name Darcy without the apostrophe, but then began to add the ‘ to the spelling.
“My parents were kind of like, ‘What’s up? Why are we doing this? This is not your name.’ But then it just sort of stuck and after a couple of years I never went back. And my mom still makes fun of me to this day and will often sign letters ‘M’om’ which is just so funny.”(1)
