Dove Cameron is an American actress and singer best known for the role of Mal in three Descendants Disney Channel TV movies and the title roles in the series Liv and Maddie. Dove is her stage name, and Chloe Celeste Hosterman is her birth name.
Dove was born on January 15, 1996, in Seattle, Washington. Her zodiac sign is Capricorn.
Dove has directly answered to a fan that she believes in God. However, she didn’t reveal what particular denomination she is. For now we will classify her as a Christian.
“@Wandersonx_x: #askdove Do you have faith or religion?” I do 🙂 I have a lot of faith. I just like to keep it to myself. I believe in God.

The actor’s parents are Philip Alan Hosterman and Bonnie Wallace. She has an older sister named Claire.
Dove’s parents were divorced, and sadly her father passed away in 2011.
When she was making Liv and Maddie, Dove dated her co-star Ryan McCartan for three years. The couple were also engaged for six months in 2016 until Dove called off their engagement and relationship. McCartan made a Twitter post announcing their break-up:
Dove has decided this relationship isn’t what she wants. We still love each other very much. Please be sensitive, as this is painful.

In February 2017 Cameron announced that she was dating her Descendants co-star Thomas Doherty. (1)
There has been speculation that Dove is openly bisexual. Apparently this rumor first began when she made an Instagram post about “coming to steal your girl” when she was seated in a motorbike. A second IG post showed Dove on a different bike with an actress with this caption: “update: stole your girl”.
The thing is, there isn’t any evidence that Dove has dated someone female. However, when she was directly asked about supporting gay rights, Dove answered the question this way:
“@slaygitmendler: @DoveCameron Do you support gay rights?” I support human rights.

Sometimes an actor needs to choose a different name for their screen credit. Often the reason is that another actor has already registered that name in the actors guild. In Dove’s case, she had a different reason for using Dove instead of her birth name of Chloe.
“My birth name is Chloe. But my daddy called me Dove/Dovey as a nickname since I was very small; just over a year old. As some of you know, my father passed away a few years ago, right around the time I started acting. So, I decided to change it legally in honor of him, which gives me great joy every day that I was able to do something so lasting and permanent to pay homage to his memory. But I still go by Chloe to some family members and Ryan. And some Starbucks employees.” (2)
