Dylan Minnette

Dylan Minnette is an American actor and musician. Dylan began his acting career in 2005 with a small part on the Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh. Afterwards, Minnette grabbed roles in the 2010 horror film Let Me In, 2014’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day, and 2015’s scary comedy Goosebumps. In 2017 Dylan’s career went up a notch when he was cast in Netflix’s breakout series 13 Reasons Why.

Dylan Minnette Suicide Controversy

When the show was released in 2017, 13 Reasons Why brought the subject of teen suicide to the front of peoples’ minds. To make the subject a central focus of a show aimed at teens was raw and controversial. Critics of 13 Reasons Why said that the series may cause suicidal viewers to emulate Hannah’s death, wondering what the fallout would be for their own friends and family.

Addressing the controversy about his show, Minnette offered this response to people that were critical of 13 Reasons Why but had not watched it. “I think anyone in their right mind would be able to watch and process what we did and put together the piece that we laid out and be able to see exactly why we did what we did, and know our real intentions, because everybody behind this had the greatest intentions and the best heart and cared so much about this.” (1)

After the success of 13 Reasons Why, Minnette found his social media profiles growing by several hundreds of thousands of followers. He expressed concern over all of the new attention to his private life and what he says on his Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages.

“I get real anxiety when it comes to social media. I never want to do or say the wrong thing,” Dylan commented. “For the most part, I try not to touch social media, but I hope I can do good when I do. I don’t know how to handle that type of pressure.” (1)

Since 2014 Dylan has been in a romantic relationship with actress Kerris Dorsey. They met while filming Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day in 2014. The pair are active on Instagram and frequently post photographs of themselves going out and doing activities.
