Emily Blunt is an English actress. She was in Wandsworth, London. When Blunt was younger, she suffered from stuttering from the ages of 7 to 14. She eventually got help with her speech disorder with the help of one of her school teachers. Emily went to Ibstock Place School and later attended a private college, Hurtwood House, which was very popular for performing arts. She later moved to the United States where she filed for dual citizenship. In her career, she has played many roles for and has received several nominations and won various awards. This includes a Golden Globe for her role in Gideon’s Daughter.
Emily was raised Christian but seems to have distanced herself from it. In an interview with a leading magazine, she said that she use to be a firm believer of Christianity, as she grew up in a very religious environment. However, she says she finds Christians today to be very sorted and appears to have shifted her views. One report stated that she is a member of the Church of England, but nothing has been confirmed about her beliefs.
Her paternal uncle, Crispin Blunt, is a renowned MP from the conservative party. However, Emily has never spoken much in public about her political views. Although she is a dual citizen, it’s not certain as to which politics, if any, she is apart of.
Emily loves horseback riding and has rode horses since she was a kid. She is apparently quite skilled at it. She also really enjoys playing the piano. Before she became interested in acting, apart from playing the piano, she also enjoyed singing.
From 2005- 2008, Emily dated Canadian singer Michael Bublé, whom she had met while doing an Australian TV Award show. After she had broken up with Michael, she was introduced to John Krasinski by her friend Anne Hathaway. She fell in love with him, and after dating for one year, they got engaged on August 28, 2009. A year later Emily and John got married on July 10th, 2010.
Emily is a mother to two daughters: Hazel (born in 2014) and Violet (born 2016).
Acting and talking in new accents has helped her in overcoming her speech disorder. Apart from her grandfather who was in the Army, she is the great-niece of actor and Major-General Tony Richardson. The Dark Knight Rises star, Anne Hathaway, is her best friend. She even calls Hathaway “her rock”.
Emily was the first choice for playing the Black Widow in Iron Man 2. Unfortunately, she had to let go of the part when Emily was required for reshoots on the 2010 comedy Gulliver’s Travels. The part of Black Widow was later recast with Scarlett Johansson.
Emily is very proud of being British. In 2015, Emily became a dual citizen of the United States. She told the press that she felt very conflicted over sharing her identity with another country. (4)
