Hunter Parrish is an American actor and singer from Richmond, Virginia. He’s best known for his role as Silas Botwin in the TV show Weeds (2005-2012) as well as minor roles in 17 Again (2009) and Still Alice (2014). He’s most recently been featured in the series Good Girls Revolt (2015-) and the upcoming movie The Runaround (2016). Hunter’s also known for his roles in Broadway productions Godspell and Spring Awakening. As a singer, Parrish’s released his EP Guessing Games in 2012 and is yet to release a second album. Hunter often puts both his passions together, as in the already mentioned Broadway productions, also starting his career working in musicals and having recorded songs for episodes in Weeds.
He is a Christian and has played Jesus in the Broadway play Godspell. But he has commented “I just think Texas and that whole Bible Belt section is so, like, corporate. And I don’t agree with organized religion in that respect.”
Parrish has picked up an interest in flying planes. He talks about his experience in an interview saying that “It was just a small plane. But there’s four passengers and you have an instructor there and I flew the plane.”
The young actor doesn’t seem involved with politics, not making many public comments about his political positions or who he has voted for in the past. Also, he likes to stay active in charity and likes helping the less fortunate.
The actor dated his talk show co-host in 2007. He then had a relationship with actress and singer AJ Michalka. But that only lasted from 2009 to 2010. In September 2015, he married his then girlfriend Kathryn Wahl in California.
He almost played Josh Hutcherson’s character Peta in The Hunger Games series. Interestingly, both actors played sons to Juliane Moore’s characters. Parrish in Still Alice and Hutcherson in The Kids Are All Right (2010).
