Jared Padalecki

Jared Padalecki is an American actor that is best known for his role as Sam Winchester on CW’s Supernatural (established 2005). He was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas with his brother, sister, father, Gerald and mother Sherri. He is German, Polish, and Scottish and has a slight Catholic background, but remains mostly non- religious. Jared’s middle name is Tristan.

Political Beliefs

Padalecki mostly keeps his political beliefs to himself, but has said he is a liberal and supported Barack Obama during his time as President. Jared has also hinted that he is glad he and the Supernatural TV show have stayed away from political and religious beliefs because he knows everyone has personal opinions, and a public figure shouldn’t discourage an individual’s personal beliefs.

Other Beliefs & Battle with Depression

Jared has made it clear that he supports the LGBT community completely on social media. “In honor of #LGBTPrideMonth, we are relaunching the rainbow #IAE tee for one day!! #AKF”.

“AFK” or “Always Keep Fighting” is Jared’s campaign that launched in May of 2015 that would raise funds for people that have struggled with depression, self-harm, and suicide. Jared has struggled himself with anxiety and depression, even experiencing a major episode during the production of season 3 of Supernatural. He has since then created t-shirts and sweatshirts that fund the campaign.

“I say constantly that there’s no shame in dealing with these things,” Padalecki once said in an interview about the stigma associated with sharing mental and emotional struggles. “There’s no shame in having to fight every day, but fighting every day, and presumably, if you’re still alive to hear these words or read this interview, then you are winning your war. You’re here.” (1)

Personal Life

In 2010, Jared announced his engagement with his Supernatural co-star Genevieve Cortese. They married in February 2010, and a year later announced that they were expecting their first child Thomas Colten Padalecki. They since then have had two other children, Austin Shepherd Padalecki, and Odette Elliot Padalecki. They all live in Austin, Texas together.

Jared is very close to his fellow Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles. He is also in a long-running back-and-forth contest playing practical jokes with Jensen, with each friend trying to out-do the other’s last joke.
