Julianne Moore is an American actress and author. In 2014 she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Her acting career got started after studying theater at Boston University. She started acting on TV from 1985 to 1988 with a role on As the World Turns. This lead to more successful movies like Boogie Nights (1997), Hannibal (2001), Crazy Stupid Love (2011), and the Hunger Games series. Besides acting, she has also wrote a series of children’s books called Freckleface Strawberry.
She is an atheist. She moved around frequently while growing up and was not influenced very heavily by church. She does send her kids to a Quaker school, though this may be more for the community aspects.
She has strong liberal democratic views. She is a huge supporter of Barack Obama. Julianne is outspoken about women’s rights, gay rights, and currently sits on the board of Planned Parenthood.
She was an avid reader which led her to acting in school. She is more of an indoor person than an outdoor person. Moore also loves home décor and visiting home remodeling websites. It also seems like writing children’s stories is one of her interests as she has successfully published a series called Freckleface Strawberry.
She is married to Bart Freundlich, who is a director. They tied the knot in 2003, after dating for seven years. Together they have two children which both came before they were married.
She is scared of skiing, sports, and balls. She doesn’t like her freckles. When she was younger she was a “nerd,” and not very good at sports and not particularly popular in school.
