Kal Penn is an American actor and producer. He was born asKalpen Suresh Modi in Montclair, New Jersey. His mother is a chemist and his father is an engineer. His parents are Gujarati-speaking immigrants that came to America from India. He studied at Freehold Regional High School where he took part in the school’s theater productions. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA. Majoring in film and sociology, Kal started his acting career in several indie films. His breakthrough role came in the 2004 with the movie Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. Kal went on to make an appearance for a couple of years in the television series, House.
Kal Penn practices the Hinduism religion and politically, he is a Democrat. In 2007, he was an advocate for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign and in 2008, a member of Obama’s National Arts Policy Committee. In 2009, Kal joined the Obama administration as an Associate Director. His political interest stems from his grandparents march with Mahatma Gandhi for India’s independence.
He has managed to keep his personal life pretty private. We do not know much about his hobbies, but Kal Penn lists five of his favorite movie comedies as The Rules of Attraction, Knocked Up, About a Boy, Office Space, and The Muppets Take Manhattan.
It looks like currently Kal Penn is single. It’s pretty hard finding who has dated before. Most of the sources we could find were based on rumors and didn’t seem to know.
