Kevin Spacey is an American actor, director, singer and producer. Born on July 26, 1959, Spacey began his acting career in the early 1980s performing on the New York City stage. After several guest appearances and recurring roles on television shows, Spacey broke into mainstream awareness with standout performances in 1995’s Seven and The Usual Suspects, with the latter picture winning him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He won a second Oscar for 1999’s American Beauty.

In October 2017 Spacey’s career suffered a substantial blow when sexual harassment accusations surfaced against him. Several men and women have alleged that Spacey inappropriately touched them, forced unwanted advances, or engaged in an intimate relationship when they were underage.

Spacey’s surname at birth was Fowler. He chooses to use his middle name Spacey (which was his mother’s maiden name) as his acting surname.

    Kevin Spacey Religion

Spacey has never made a public comment about his religious beliefs. Whether he is agnostic, atheist, Catholic, Christian or non-denominational, we simply don’t know. And he hasn’t said.

“People can gossip all they want; they can speculate all they want. I just happened to believe that there’s a separation between the public life and the private life. Everybody has the right to a private life no matter what their professions are,” Kevin said in a 2010 interview. (1)

    Kevin Spacey Politics

Spacey leans towards the left in his personal politics. He has given money to the Democratic party and voted Democrat when Bill Clinton was running for office. He also calls the former president a personal friend of his.

Through his performance of President Frank Underwood on the Netflix series House of Cards, Spacey’s persona of a politically savvy shark has been reinforced in the public’s eye.

    Kevin Spacey Sexual Harassment Controversy

In October 2017 actor Anthony Rapp alleged that Spacey had made sexual advances to Rapp when the former was only 14-years-old. At the time of the incident in 1986 Spacey had been 26.

Spacey swiftly said that he had no memory of the event. “But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years,” Spacey remarked.

Rapp’s initial sexual harassment story was soon followed by others including crew members on House of Cards. Filming on the Netflix series was halted and Spacey was let go from the production. (2) Additional fallout was the removal of Spacey’s performance in a Ridley Scott movie, All the Money in the World, and the dropping of the actor by his manager and talent agency.

    Kevin Spacey Relationships & Dating

Spacey came out as gay shortly after the initial claim of his sexual harassment was brought into the mainstream.

“This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life,” Spacey said at the time. “As those closest to me know, in my life I have had relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man.”

However, criticism was leveled at Kevin Spacey by members of both showbiz and the media on the timing of the actor’s coming out (3). Was he using his sexuality as a means to distract the public from supposedly hitting on a teenage boy?

Kevin has a brother and a sister. His relationship with his father is distant. Spacey’s brother has claimed that their father was physically and emotionally abusive to them as children.
