    Leah Remini Religion

For the first nine years of her life, Leah was raised as a Roman Catholic. She was baptized.

Remini’s mother broke from her Catholic faith and joined the Church of Scientology in 1979. She introduced Leah and her siblings to Scientology and in 1983 moved to Los Angeles to be closer to Scientology’s headquarters.

Throughout her teenage years and through her 20s and 30s, Leah Remini was a staunch Scientologist. She publicly supported the organization and defended it from critics. As she rose to fame from starring in King of Queens, Remini was a loyal supporter of the practice.

In July 2013, Leah Remini made the announcement that she was no longer a Scientologist. Leah claims that her breaking point was when she asked where the wife of Scientology’s leader was, after not being seen in public or at church functions for years. When her questions were ignored, she began questioning more of the church’s practices even as its’ members put pressure on her.

Remini has also revealed that the rest of her family have also left Scientology.

She has since mentioned that she has returned to practicing Catholicism and prays. (1)
