Liam Neeson is an Irish actor. He is famous for his roles in Schindler’s List, Star Wars, Batman Begins, Kinsey and the Taken movie series. He has been nominated for an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, and three Golden Globe Awards.
Neeson was raised as a Roman Catholic. Rumors circulated in 2012 that Neeson was considering converting to Islam, after filming Taken 2 in Turkey, but has since stated that he does not plan to leave his Roman Catholic beliefs behind.
Liam appears to be liberal on issues and is most likely a Democrat. Neeson supports gun control in the United States and has called US gun laws “a disgrace”. He has participated in an Amnesty International video in support of legalizing abortion in Ireland, which seems contradictory to his Catholic beliefs. He was even called out by some for being “anti-Catholic”. In 2014, Neeson opposed the anti-carriage horse campaign of New York City mayor, Bill de Blasio. Neeson even wrote an opinion page for the New York Times, stating that the carriage trade was safe for horses and people and that many immigrants relied on it for income. ”.
Neeson has stated that his favorite hobby is fly-fishing, and has even participated in the program, ‘Fly Fishing the World’ about five times. For the last one, he spent ten days fishing in New Zealand with his best friend.
Neeson was involved with Helen Mirren during the 1980’s.
Neeson married Natasha Richardson July 3rd 1994, after having met at a Broadway play in 1993. Unfortunately, Richardson passed away after a skiing accident in 2009.
He is currently single.
In 2000, Neeson was appointed as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II. Neeson was naturalized as a citizen of the USA in 2009. Liam used to be a heavy smoker, but quit in 2003. He was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF in 2011. He has two sons, Micheál and Daniel, from his marriage to Richardson.
