Madelaine Petsch is an American actress who is presently best known for playing the part of Cheryl Blossom on the television show Riverdale.
Madelaine was born on August 18, 1994 in Port Orchard, Washington. Her middle name is Grobbelaar, and it’s South African. Her zodiac sign is Leo.
She is either agnostic (a person who doesn’t know if there is a God or not) or an atheist (a non-believer). The reason why we can’t tell for sure comes from a quote Madelaine gave Cosmopolitan magazine:
“I grew up in a small town, I was the only redhead other than my brother. We had South African accents, I was a vegan, I was raised without religion. I was just the weirdest kid in this small town, so I got made fun of a lot for it. My brother got stones thrown at him!” (1)
Both of her parents are South African. During the first ten years of Madelaine’s life she split her time between living in Washington state and in South African.
She has a brother who is also a redhead. During their childhood the two Petsch siblings were picked on by other children for their South African accents and their scarlet locks. (2)
On Riverdale, Madelaine’s character Cheryl has been identified as being bisexual. In one moment from season two Cheryl kissed her friend Toni on the lips.
“I think the responses have been overwhelmingly positive,” Madelaine said when asked what she thought of the story turn. “I’m really happy to bring bisexuality to TV, because you don’t see that often on television, especially with women. I find that so interesting because most of my friends—my female friends—are bisexual. It’s just the majority of our generation… and I don’t think you see it on television still.” (3)
She is a vegan. “I’ve been plant-based my whole life. Being vegan keeps my body fueled and running smoothly.” (4)
Madelaine also tries to drink about 12 bottles of water a day, and only eat non-processed food. (5)
She received training at an early age in dancing. Before she moved into acting, Madelaine competed in competitive dancing.
