Meghan Markle is an American actress, fashion model and a new member of Britain’s royal family. Born in California, she is the daughter of an African American mother and Dutch father. Meghan has featured in leading movies and shows such as Suits (2011), Horrible Bosses (2011) as well as Remember Me (2010). However, her showbiz fame is largely attributed to the role she plays on USA legal drama Suits as Rachel Zane. Further, unknown to many, in the United States’ version of Deal or No Deal, Meghan Markle was the model holding case number 24. Her role as an FBI special agent Amy Jessup in the sci-fi thriller Fringe also spurred her celebrity status.
In November 2017 it was revealed that Markle was engaged to Prince Harry, the youngest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The union would bring Meghan into the United Kingdom’s royal family by way of marriage. Upon her marriage with Harry, Meghan received the title Duchess of Sussex from Queen Elizabeth.(1)
On May 19, 2018, Meghan married Prince Harry in a ceremony at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, England.
Meghan is Jewish and is a strong believer in God. As a matter of fact, she is on record for refusing to play roles in the show Suits that required her to undresses. She said her reasons were of moral standing and religious background. In one of her interview transcripts from, Jews in Suits, she talked about being approached by a policeman, “Someone mentioned to the friendly policeman that I am a Jew… he was thrilled; he’d never met a New York Jew — or any Jew.”
In an interview with Marie Claire, she mentions her hobbies are cooking, traveling, running, and yoga. According to Meghan, the hobbies are as a result of her upbringing, both as a family and as a Californian.
Not much is known about Meghan’s political views. She is however very active in supporting more roles for women. Born to a Republican and an African American Democrat, Meghan seems to enjoy a more liberal political view.
In June 2016 the public learned that Meghan was dating Prince Harry, fifth in line to the throne of Britain. At first the couple avoided being photographed together, but then in October of 2016 the couple became more public with their relationship.
After a courtship of roughly 18 months, Meghan Markle became engaged to Prince Harry. The engagement was officially announced on November 27, 2017. The couple made an announcement to wed in spring 2018.
Meghan was previously married to Trevor Engelson, an actor and film producer. They got married in 2011 but ended their relationship in 2013.
On May 19, 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan married. The bride wore an all-white dress designed by Clare Waight Keller, the artistic director of Givenchy. Harry wore his all-black Household Cavalry Uniform.
Guests at the ceremony included Queen Elizabeth II, Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney and his wife Amal, Elton John, and many of Harry’s immediate and extended royal family.

Meghan is reportedly a user of Russell Simmons’ Meditation Made Simple App. Additionally, for relaxation purposes, she takes take flights without Wi-Fi to avoid getting distracted. She is also a UN women activist and currently is World Vision’s Clean Water Campaign’s ambassador.
