Patrick Dempsey is an American actor and race car driver. He is well known for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy. He gained attention for his roles in Can’t Buy Me Love (1987) and Loverboy (1989). One of his breakaway roles was when he was the lead actor in Sweet Home Alabama (2002). Some of the other films he has been in are Enchanted (2007), Made of Honor (2008), and Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011). His most recent success has been his role as a surgeon in Grey’s Anatomy (2005-). He has been professionally racing since 2004. Not many people know about his double life as a race car driver but it’s very important to him.
Dempsey is not a religious man; he does not talk much about going to church or attending any religious gathering. Despite attending St. Dominic Regional High School, he does not practice any religion.
In his extra time he gathers collectibles, renovates homes, and skis. He also loves racing cars and considers this an important part of his life.
Dempsey keeps his views private and appears to not be a part of either party. We will update this post if we hear any other news about his political views.
Off-camera, Dempsey wedded a second time in 1999, to Jillian Dempsey. The couple have three children, two of which are twins.
As he grew in Maine as a teenager, he was a state champion downhill skier who prepared for a spot on the Olympic team. Continuously intrigued by entertainment, Patrick practiced juggling and took part in a few competitions. He was the driver of a pace car in the 91st Indianapolis 500 in May of 2007. When Patrick was in his first marriage his stepson was one year older than him. He flaunted a more helpful side when he began the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing (PDCCHH) which he started in Lewiston after ovarian cancer attacked his mother.
