Sarah Wayne Callies is an American actress. Born in La Grande, Illinois, she went to DartMouth College in New Hampshire while keeping her interest in theatre. She got a Master of Fine Arts degree in 2002 from Denver’s National Theater Conservatory. After moving to New York in 2003 she got her role in Queens Supreme (2003-2007) before getting her part as Sara Tancredi in Prison Break (2005-2009). Sarah is also known for her part as Lori Grimes in The Walking Dead (2010-2013). She’ll reprise her role as Tancredi in Prison Break’s 2017 sequel.
Sarah appears to be Agnostic. “I am fascinated in religion and theology and what people believe” is a somehow famous quote of the actress. Interestingly though, she doesn’t talk much about her own beliefs. But from the quote it’s safe to assume she is either curious or believes in some sort of higher power.
Sarah loves outdoor activities, especially camping and backpacking. She’s learned how to build a fire by herself and has also picked up hunting with a rifle. She’s also learned how to shoot other kinds of firearms as a hobby.
The actress seems to be a liberal and is worried about social issues such as the refugee situation. She’s traveled to Serbia to talk to some of the refugees and raise awareness to the subject.
In 2002 she married Josh Winterhalt. The couple originally met at Dartmouth and in 2007 had their first child together, a girl. Since then they’ve also had a son.
Dr. Sara Tancredi, Callies’ character from Prison Break, was removed from the series and was only brought back because of fan demands. Not only that, but she’d go on to star on the movie and, as mentioned, to reprise her role in the sequel series.
