    Sean Connery – His Politics

Unlike ascertaining where his religious beliefs lie, it’s much easier to know which place Sean Connery’s political allegiances are with. Sean is a die-hard supporter of an independent Scotland. He has been a longtime supporter and member of the Scottish National Party, lending his voice to the call for Scotland to be an independent sovereign state from the United Kingdom. (1)

Since Sean is allied with the Scottish National Party, his political leanings are towards a socialist democratic government. That would make him slightly to the left-of-center in the political spectrum.

    Sean Connery – His Religion

This is a tough one to crack. Connery has preferred to remain tight-lipped about religion throughout his long career. We have seen unconfirmed reports that Connery is Christian, or a Roman Catholic, but there is no evidence to back up these claims.

There also isn’t any publicly available information on the two times Sean has been married, so we don’t have any insight into whether the ceremonies were conducted in a church or overseen by someone of a denominational faith.

Upon announcing Connery’s death his family said that a small private service would be held in the near future. No details about the type of memorial service or any religious denomination was stated in the press release. (2)

    Sean Connery – His Relationships

Connery’s parents were both born in Scotland, but his paternal grandfather has Irish roots.

He has a brother, Neil, that is eight years younger than him.

In 1962 Connery married Diane Cilento, an Australian actress. They had one child, a boy named Jason born in 1963. Jason is also an actor.

Sean remarried in 1975 to Micheline Roquebrune, who has a Moroccan-French background. As a couple they had no children.

    Sean Connery – Miscellaneous

    He is an avid golfer.

Connery retired from acting in 2003, after the release of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. He has done voice acting roles since, once reprising his role as James Bond in a 2007 video game, and as a Scottish groundskeeper in a computer animated movie called Sir Billi (2012).

Connery has two tattoos, both on his right arm. One says “Mom and Dad”, the other “Scotland Forever”. He picked them up when only 16, and enlisted in the Royal Navy.

In 2000 Connery was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his work in cinema.
