Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes is a Canadian singer and songwriter. His full name is Shawn Peter Raul Mendes. He was born on August 8, 1998, in Toronto, Canada. Mendes first started picking up fame and attention in 2013 after posting videos on the app Vine. He would sing and do short cover videos of songs. Eventually this would lead to Shawn getting picked up and releasing his debut album, “HandWritten”. The song “Stitches” reached the the top 10 in both Canada and the U.S. It even reached the number one spot in the UK.

We tried to track down a particular denomination of Christianity that Shawn and his family follows but couldn’t locate that information.

However, we did find one instance where he swore using the name of Jesus (check it out here if you want to see/hear it but be warned that it is NSFW). Bad language to use, Shawn!

 Shawn Mendes – His Family

Shawn was raised in Toronto, the largest city in Canada. His mother Karen Mendes is a real estate agent while father Manuel Mendes is a bar and restaurant supplies salesperson. Shawn has a younger sister named Aaliyah who is five years younger than him (she was born in 2003.) Aaliyah is a social media influencer on Instagram with over 200,000 followers.

Shawn is close to all of his family. An interesting fact is that he got twin tattoos together with his mother Karen. The tattoos are of elephants, and both Mendes family members have them on the same index finger.

Shawn revealed that he had been trying to convince his mother for a long time to get paired tattoos. After much discussion and debate, what finally convinced Karen Mendes to get a tattoo was Shawn suggesting that they get his mom’s favorite animal placed on their index fingers. (2)

He likes playing Xbox, eating, hanging out with friends, going to the gym and ice hockey. Shawn is also an avid skater which is why he really enjoys hockey. He learned these skating skills from his Dad.

Shawn Mendes Political Views

It appears that Shawn leans more liberal on social issues. We know he is a supporter of the LGBT community. He’s had to make a public statement about rumors that he was gay, and also to clear the air that he doesn’t have any issues with homosexuality:

Currently Shawn is reported to be single. There were rumors that, Camila Cabello, a member of Fifth Harmony, was his girlfriend at one time. This has since been proven to be false.

Shawn Mendes is said to have an apartment of his own in Toronto, Canada. This youngster is estimated to worth about 15 million dollars. Shawn learned how to play the guitar when he was only 13 years old. In addition to playing guitar, he also plays the piano. His biggest idol and person he looks up to is Ed Sheeran.
