Claire Danes is an American actress who started her career at the age of fifteen. Her acting career began in theater, but she later landed a leading role in the TV series My So-Called Life. She has gone on to star in some extremely popular features and television series, most notably in the series Homeland. She attended Yale University from 1998 to 2000 until she dropped out to pursue her career in acting. She went from Broadway to acting and was Temple Grandin in the HBO film Temple Grandin. This won her a Golden Globe and would be one of her first Emmys.
Danes has been quoted as saying that “meditation parties” were common occurrences during her upbringing. That however is about the extent of her religious beliefs.
Danes has never been outspoken concerning her political views, however she seems to be quite favorable towards the Democrats. On two separate occasions her Homeland fame has landed her meetings with Democrat and former President Bill Clinton, as well as Democrat and President Barack Obama. She has even called President Obama a “fine President. However, she has not contributed money to any political parties or campaigns, including the Democrats.
Claire has said in the past that one of her hobbies is creating costumes and she especially loves Halloween. She also developed a love for techno music and dancing whilst living in Berlin and filming the fifth season of Homeland. She has even demonstrated her techno dancing skills when appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Claire married Hannibal alum Hugh Dancy in 2009. In 2012 they had their first child, Cyrus Dancy.
Danes received her first kiss during the filming of My So-Called Life.
