J. Cole or Jermaine Lamarr Cole is an American rapper. He was born on January 28th, 1985 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Cole was born at a US military base in West Germany because his dad was stationed there in the US Army. His dad is African-American and his mom is full German. J graduated high school with an incredible 4.2 GPA and received a scholarship at St. John’s University in New York where he felt his music career would have a better chance. He graduated in 2007 magma cum laude with a 3.8 GPA.

Cole married Melissa Heholt in 2015 and the couple has been together since.
Cole was the president of the pan-African club at his college. He began rapping at 12 years old and realized he could follow his dream when his mother bought him a music sampler as a gift in 2000. He worked on his production skills with FL Studio and released music under the moniker, ‘Therapist.’ He aspires to one day open up a Cheesecake Factory.
