    Kacey Musgraves – Her Religion

Kacey might not be religious at all. She knows that can cause many fans within country/western to question whether they should like Musgraves’ music.

“I definitely see both sides, because I grew up in that environment and I can understand the mentalities surrounding that and what comes along with religion and small-town life. But when I was old enough to think for myself, I got away, and it opened me up to a lot of different ideas.” (1)

The lyrics to Kacey’s songs also suggest that she is tolerant to religious belief but also critical of it as well, such as the following two verses:

“I ain’t one to knock religion/Though it’s always knocking me”

“My idea of heaven is to burn one with John Prine.”

    Kacey Musgraves – Her Politics

Musgraves hails from a conservative state that swings Republican. Much of Kacey’s music strikes a chord with southern hospitality and family values. (2)

It also looks like she doesn’t want to voice her personal beliefs on politics. On Febaury 4, 2017 Kacey sent out the following tweet: “I try to stay out of politics but this is beyond whatever side of the coin ur on: Betsy DeVos & her LACK of education qualifications.” However, Kacey appeared to have a change of mind and deleted the tweet. A record of it remains archived. (3)

After the 2017 Charlottsville attack Kacey sent out a tweet to her followers that supported the removal of Civil War-era southern symbols:

She has made positive comments supporting her gay fans, and also for the right to bear arms in America. (4)

    Kacey Musgraves – Her Relationships

In 2017 Kacey married Ruston Kelly, who is also a musician.

Kacey Musgraves – Belief in Spirits

It would seem that Kacey’s belief system includes being open to contacting the dead.

Kacey’s grandmother died in a house fire in late 2013. For a television show, the singer asked medium Tyler Henry to see if he could contact Kacey’s grandmother’s spirit. According to Tyler, he did.

“As we kept going, more and more started to kind of reveal itself,” Kacey explained on the program. “And that’s not something you can just guess at or throw out. You know, it was a very shocking thing. (5)
