Michael Shannon is an American musician and actor. He was born in Lexington Kentucky in 1974 to an accounting professor and a lawyer. Unfortunately his parents would divorce and Michael would be forced to live between Kentucky and Chicago. Due to the divorce and other possible turmoils he was sent to therapy; which didn’t seem to help. Eventually Michael joined his junior high school speech team which ultimately led to his acting career. He starting said career on the stage; debuting at the Illinois Theater Center in Chicago and subsequently led to a stint on London’s West End. In 1993 he made his film debut in Groundhog Day.
Michael is not religious. He does not follow a specific religion. However, in an interview about Take Shelter he said the following; “I think that’s one of the main reasons that religion exists, to help people deal with how random life is and how random nature can be”.
Michael is very vocal in his political opinion. He is not a fan of Donald Trump, and has harsh views towards the President and his supporters. In a recent article, he was quoted saying “I don’t want to live in a country where people voted for Trump. I want to live in some other f*cking country.” As far as his political party, it’s safe to assume he leans more left and is most likely a Democrat.
Mr. Shannon is a big fan of the show Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist. He also has a love for film, citing Alphaville, The King of Comedy, Dekalog, Crumb and I stand Alone as favorites.
Though they are not married, Michael Shannon remains with his longtime girlfriend Kate Arrington. The couple has two daughters together.
Shannon is the first non British actor to play Superman’s enemy, General Zod. His grandfather, Raymon Corbett Shannon is a famous entomologist. He has one brother named Dave.
